Saturday 4th June and up to London for the Crohn's and Colitis London Walk. Can't quite believe I persuaded Simon to come with me but he did. We met up with two others from the Brighton group, Paul and Dave. Paul actually lives in Havant but Brighton is his nearest group (strange). Dave works at the Job Centre in HH and I recommended my favourite cafe, 'Go Gourmet' which is just next door. Such lovely people! He didn't know it.
We congregated at Embankment Gardens where all sorts of entertainment was laid on. It was just great to see a sea of purple tee shirts (is purple going to be my forever colour?). So many people, so many families.
The walk took us all around central London: Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly, Regent Street, Grosvenor Square ..... After 2 hours 20 minutes we were back in the gardens walking under the fab balloon arch. (I fancy one of these for our Willow race but discovered it was quite expensive and time consuming to produce. Nice though.)
Such a lovely day blessed with sunny weather and hopefully some money raised.

Next day, time to get serious for event number 50, the Worthing 10k. I drove Verity and son-in-law Dave. He had been to a beer festival in Bristol the day before but was in remarkably good form. Not sure how he managed to run so well in the heat. Oh yes, it was pretty warm but then we are just not used to running in temperatures much above double figures so this was a shock. The race was very well organised with lots of stalls along the seafront making it a bit Brighton-lite. Nice vibe, I'd say. Quite few harriers were there and Glenn Driver ran really well to come third in about 33 minutes.
Out on the course I passed Elspeth (Turner) flying towards the finish as I was running in the other direction. It was about the same place we passed each other in the Worthing Half Marathon last February (event number 31, keep up!). As she said, there are worse places to keep meeting.
I finished in 51. 53 which I was fine by me. See below pic of harriers, plus Dave!
Verity asked me what my plans were for the last fifteen races and had I found an exotic location. Well, sadly not at present but maybe there is still time. I now need to do some training for the Trailwalker 100k on 23rd July. It is fast approaching and I feel I am not going to be ready! #avoidblisters
