I'm calling this event 27a as I didn't actually take part. Bit like that that fake platform in Harry Potter, if you get the idea......
I had planned to run the East Sussex XC event in Ashdown Forest.last Sunday (17th January). To be honest I wasn't that keen. The following information on the event website put me off:
Toilets: No toilets
Drinks: Cold water available at the finish
Maybe, it was the open admission that you had to go behind a bush (if necessary - hang on, always necessary before a race) or the emphasis on cold rather than any other temperature water at the finish. Was I expecting hot water? Who knows. Overall, I felt I just wasn't hardcore enough for this race.
Anyway, on the day itself we had our first snowfall (see pic below from the front of the house at 7.30 am). Yes, OK, I could have got there. The snow had more or less turned to slush by 9 o'clock, but the thought of an indoor spinning session in the lovely, warm Dolphin leisure centre instead was just too attractive. So I have a few events to catch up on now!
Also, see below, our latest beginner running group in Beech Hurst gardens last Wednesday. Not only did everyone turn up for the second week of the course, but we actually gained one! Great group.
