Regent's Park is actually the Regent's park and is one of the Royal Parks. I was stuck for a local event to do and this race was the easiest to get to. I loved the idea of going on my own and knowing no one and this indeed was the case. I did get talking to a guy called Chris on the walk to the start from Baker Street tube. He was hoping to get under 40 minutes for the first time and checking the results I see he made it! The start and finish were right next to the sports pavilion, the Hub, with changing, toilets etc. It was all very easy and organised. The race was three laps which I found quite challenging as somehow I thought it would make the race seem shorter, but 10k is 10k whatever. Strange that! The morning started early in fog but cleared later to reveal beautiful Autumn colours - and so many ducks.
I finished the race in 50.56 and found a friendly American tourist who took the pic below. He was from Michigan. I struggled to think of an intelligent comment to make about Michigan and failed. Hopefully, he met many more interesting little Englanders during his stay and his impression of Brits wasn't based on his brief encounter with me!
Oh forgot to talk about my visit on Friday to the A1 Weiwei exhibition at the Royal Academy. It was so interesting - what an amazing man.
Next weekend is a tricky one. Not sure how to fit in an event?..............
