Friday the 9th October and David and I headed for the Cotswolds visiting Snowshill Manor on the way. This was a rather quirky National Trust property which houses a very eclectic collection of random objects, from penny farthing bikes to spinning jennys, all unlabelled and left in their original positions.. Charles Wade was the eccentric responsible and was clearly into conservation. Bit of de-cluttering needed if you ask me. Views were good though.
We were in the Cotswolds for a wedding - more on that later - and decided to make a weekend of it.
I took the opportunity to run the Evesham parkrun which was only a 15 minute drive from where we were staying in Willersey. This parkrun has only be going for about 6 months. It is in such a beautiful setting, beside a canal and the course varies between grassland and towpath, but remains completely flat! The organisers were absolutely lovely and welcoming. I finished in 25.18 and was 5th lady - something I wouldn't achieve at Clair I'm afraid.
Here I am back at our B and B afterwards (we were treated to a late breakfast at 10 o'clock!).

The rest of the day was spent being touristy in Stratford including a two and a half hour walking tour.
Saturday evening and we finally made it to the wedding. The venue at Farncombe Manor was clearly on the posh side of posh but sadly it was also difficult to appreciate the grounds in the dark. Hannah the bride looked really lovely. She is 6 feet tall without shoes on and wore 4 inch heels, hence I only saw her from a certain angle. The bridegroom, Simon, is the elder son of my great friend, Jaki. He recently completed the Ultra Tour de Mont Blanc - yes that one!
'The Tour du Mont Blanc or TMB is one of the most popular long-distance walks in Europe. It circles the Mont Blanc Massif covering a distance of roughly 170 kilometres (110 mi) with 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) of ascent/descent and passes through parts of Switzerland, Italy and France.'
Simon has also taken part in the Marathon de Sables and many other ultra events. Fantastic achievements. All put to one side on this day of celebrating something completely different but much more significant.
The pic below was the best I could do - the cutting of the cake:
