Sunday 13th September and I pick up our club chair, Mark, and it's off to Hellingly, which is in East Sussex, close to Hailsham. This race is one of the Sussex Grand Prix series and it MUST be done so that I complete my eight for the club.
The course is a kind of reverse Newick 10k with hills up in the first half and plenty of downhill in the second, and all on country roads. I finished in 51.59, nice timing really. I was in hot pursuit (joke) of another over 65 female, Sue, while yet another, Sarah, came in 4 seconds behind me. One gets sooo competitive when one retires......
Tea and cakes followed the race (thanks, Mark) and then I remembered I hadn't taken a pic. Most harriers had gone home by now. So see below fellow harriers Mark and Rob (Watts) who seemed to be trying to look mean and moody. Mmm not sure it worked.

I then realised that Rob was hanging around as he had given a lift to the guy who had won the race, who was waiting to be awarded his trophy. This was Paul Navesey who is in the photo below next to our fastest runner, Russ (Mullen) who came 6th, who is next to Rob who finished 8th. Also in the pic is Natalie with her bonny one year old, Lara.
Paul finished in 33.47. He currently belongs to Crawley AC. Can we charm him into joining HHH? Paul's forte is anything ultra with lots of undulation and rough terrain. To get the picture, have a look at one of his You Tube clips:

Looking forward to next weekend, Tilgate parkrun and the Ashtead 10k.!
