Saturday, 3rd October, and I make my way to Clair Park, stopping off at Victoria Park on the way. It's 7.50 am and really foggy, despite the forecast for bright sunshine later in the day.. I am there to visit Terry (from Ultracore Fitness) who is putting a beginner running group through their paces. This is 'work' really, part of my Run England role but no time to dawdle (great word) as I'm Run Director for the day at Clair so I need to get on with the course checking and set up.
Lovely to be at Clair and great to see Nick Atkins and friends raising money for Pancreatic Cancer UK, as part of Nick's 30/30 challenges. See below Neil's lovely pic of me in Run Director mode.

In the afternoon, a trip to Brighton to see a quirky production of 'Rebecca' at the Theatre Royal followed by a great meal at Cote Brasserie. Hurrah we will have our own Cote on the Broadway in Haywards Heath soon!
Sunday 4th October, number 10, and it's off to East Sussex for the Lewes Downland 10 miles . This is one of my favourite races. It is all off road over challenging terrain and lots of steep inclines. If you want the details, they are on the Lewes AC website. Suffice to say, you never get bored on this race as the course is ever changing. Unfortunately, my cold was ever present and it is very difficult to keep blowing your nose while running on the Downs. My advice to me would have been not to run, but who ever listens to commonsense?? Clearly not me at 65.
It was great that Maureen joined me again on this run, but not so great that she suffered a tumble not far into the race. Really bad luck but thankfully no serious harm done.
See below, pic of Harriers Carl, Maureen, Kath and Klara. As usuall, all the fast boys had already left. The race was won again by Paul Navesey. His dad also took part in the 10 miler while his sister, Emma, and mum Bev, ran in the 5 mile race. Well done all!
