Saturday September 19th and one of those 'glad to be alive' Autumn mornings. Crisp, clear with a touch of sunshine.
Maureen R gave me a lift. It was her first time at Tilgate, lured by the promise of a 'got to be easier than Clair' course. Loads of runners and a fabulous atmosphere definitely helped by the presence of lots of Crawley Saints and Sinners. Their latest 'Learn to Run' group were on their graduation 5k run, led by Bill (Bedford) and cheered on by club chair, Mark (Clawson). Congratulations to all of them.
I followed the 26 minute pacer and came in at 25.17 followed not far behind by Maureen. We met up with Anna (Leadbitter), husband Dave and little Ted. See pic below. Lovely to see them and fellow harrier, Sarah (Banks) and daughter at the start of the run.
Maureen said afterwards she wasn't sure she had enjoyed her run - maybe she is suffering from Clair parkrun withdrawal symptoms, like I am!
On wards and upwards, Ashtead 10 k tomorrow. The race instructions include the following:
You must keep your hands free at all times (not in pockets for example).
Now I have never seen that before. Don't know about you but I always run with my hands in my pockets (not).
